About

The Aperture Portfolio Prize identifies trends in contemporary photography and seeks out artists whose work deserves wider recognition. The winner receives a $5,000 cash prize, publication in Aperture magazine and a gift card; four shortlisted artists each receive $1,000 and an editorial feature on aperture.org, and all five finalists are shown in a group exhibition at AIPAD in New York.

Entry is open worldwide but limited to current Aperture print subscribers (subscriptions from $75 a year). Work featured by Aperture in the past three years is ineligible; one portfolio of 10–15 images per entrant.

The 2026 call ran 5 November 2025 – 11 January 2026 with jurors Taous Dahmani, Jessica Dimson, Jane'a Johnson and Avion Pearce. The 2027 dates have not yet been announced; the call has opened in early November in recent years.
