About

The Académie de France à Madrid, part of the Casa de Velázquez, selects twelve artists in residence each year. Applications for 2027-2028 are open from 19 October to 27 November 2026 (13.00 Madrid time).

There is no nationality requirement. Applicants must be of legal age, hold a higher artistic diploma or demonstrate a significant practice, and declare one main discipline: drawing, printmaking, sculpture, painting, architecture, music composition, choreography, photography, film or video. The project must be specific to the Iberian Peninsula.

Selection is on the application file followed by an interview in Paris; both are in French and a good command of the language is required. The grant period runs from 1 September 2027 to 31 August 2028, with occupancy from mid-September 2027 to the end of July 2028.
