Commissioned Artists (environmental themes) at Sycomore

Sycomore is a platform that pairs artists with scientists: artists make visual work about environmental problems such as deforestation, oceans, endangered species and climate change, and most of the proceeds from sales go to scientists working on solutions. It is looking for artists in any discipline, including fine art, digital, illustration and mixed media.

Artists collaborate with Sycomore's scientific network, prepare work for exhibition, digital presentation and print, and may take part in optional events. Applicants need a strong portfolio of original work, the ability to make conceptually rich pieces on environmental themes and reliability with deadlines; no scientific background is needed. Emerging and established artists can apply.

Artists receive a baseline project fee for commissioned work, with day rates of £290–£340 depending on experience, ongoing royalties from print sales and possible brand collaborations. Some projects need at least two days a month and longer projects about 5–10 days a month. The listing is remote; location limits are not stated. Apply by email.
