Contract Artist Mentor (Visual and Media Arts) at Theatre of Hearts/Youth First

Theatre of Hearts/Youth First, a Los Angeles arts education nonprofit, is recruiting professional artists to lead its Youth First artist-in-residence workshops for young people in schools, parks, libraries, juvenile halls and camps and other community settings. Disciplines sought include visual arts and media arts (photography and filmmaking), alongside music, dance, theatre and creative writing.

Residencies are custom designed and standards based, usually two-hour workshops held once or twice a week for 13 to 15 weeks and ending with a work-in-progress presentation. Bilingual artists, those with teaching experience and those familiar with California VAPA and Common Core standards are welcomed.

Artists need at least five years' experience in their discipline, a bachelor's degree, their own vehicle and a valid California driver's licence, a negative TB test and a background check. Pay is $55–$100 an hour with no benefits. Email a creative CV, links to work, any sample lesson plan and video links to the organisation by 30 November 2026.
