About

The Health and Wellbeing of Women in Farming Project, led by the Centre for Rural Policy Research at the University of Exeter with the Farming Community Network, is recruiting three experienced creative practitioners, one per cohort: basket weaving for South West England, metal jewellery making for the North of England, and photography for Mid Wales. Working with researchers and women in farming as co-researchers, facilitators take part in up to three planning sessions, develop and deliver up to two full in-person workshop days, support documentation, help develop a display of outcomes and contribute reflections to the evaluation.

The project wants practitioners with an established creative practice in the relevant discipline, experience facilitating workshops with community groups and beginners, strong communication and listening skills, a commitment to inclusive, participant-led practice, an interest in women's health, rural life or farming, and connections to or understanding of the region applied for. The roles suit artists with participatory, socially engaged or community-based practice.

The commission involves 10 days of work paid at £350 per day inclusive of VAT, with a separate materials budget and agreed travel and accommodation expenses. Download the call-out pack linked from the listing for the application process; applications close at 5pm on Monday 2 November 2026, with online interviews on 11, 12 and 19 November 2026. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the commission. The project may close applications early.
