About
Established in 2009, the Deakin University Contemporary Small Sculpture Award celebrates contemporary sculpture by artists across Australia. A rotating judging panel selects around 40 finalists for an exhibition at the Deakin University Art Gallery from August to October, and the winning work is acquired into the university collection.
In 2026 the prize pool rose to $26,000, including a new $5,000 Emerging Sculptors Award, a $3,000 Highly Commended award and a $3,000 People's Choice. There is no entry fee; artists may submit up to three works online. Entry is restricted to Australian residents for legal or tax purposes.
