Director of Museums at Ville de Bayeux

The town of Bayeux in Normandy, known worldwide for the 68-metre Bayeux Tapestry inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World register, is recruiting a director for its museums, to lead and develop them within the municipal administration.

The director manages the museums' teams, collections and programmes and represents them in academic and professional networks.

Candidates need at least a master's in medieval history, art history or archaeology with an international research profile on the medieval Norman world, and solid experience of French territorial public service and heritage law. The full-time post comes with insurance contributions, meal vouchers and some remote working; pay is not stated. Apply by 22 November 2026.
