About
The EMERGENCE Visual Art Award (formerly the Emerging Visual Artist Award) is presented every two years by Wexford County Council Arts Department and Wexford Arts Centre in partnership with South East Technological University (SETU). It is open to artists of any age based in Ireland who have a third-level visual arts education and three years of post-graduate experience, or the equivalent in self-guided practice, and is aimed at early-career artists, those re-engaging after an absence, or those with a modest independent exhibition history.
The award is worth €15,000, with an additional €2,000 for mentorship over the two-year period, access to studio space and equipment at SETU's Art and Design campus, and a solo exhibition at Wexford Arts Centre in September 2027 curated by Catherine Bowe. Applications for the current cycle closed at 4pm on 12 June 2025 by email; there was no stated fee. The next call is expected in 2027 for the following cycle.
