About
SAFCORE, a design and build studio in Long Island City specialising in custom fabrication, furniture, millwork, interiors and temporary installations, is hiring a Fabrication and Build Lead to run its woodshop. The lead builds custom pieces from drawings start to finish, operates woodshop machinery daily, mills hardwood and sheet goods, cuts joinery, assigns work to a small crew of fabricators and installers, reads shop drawings, oversees quality control and leads on-site installations.
Applicants need five or more years of professional woodworking, cabinetmaking, millwork or scenic shop experience, confident and safe operation of standard woodshop machinery including sliding table saws, jointers, planers and routers, precise layout skills, experience supervising other builders and willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends. CNC, finishing and spraying, metalwork and Rhino or CAD are nice to have.
The post is part time, becoming full time in busy periods, at $30 to $40 an hour. Email a resume and photos of work you have personally built to [email protected] by 4 November 2026; applications without photos are not reviewed.
