About
The Blanket Fort Club, an Arts Council funded theatre company making inclusive sensory immersive experiences, is looking for a designer-fabricator to help fully realise a large sensory installation for audiences of all ages, including those with complex needs and PMLD. It opens in September 2027 for a three-month exhibition in Derbyshire with a live performance strand. The maker will work with the creative team and some participants on responsive fabrication, technical drawings and the build of story-rich spaces that hide technology within the structure.
The company wants experience of building sets, installations or immersive environments with attention to detail and finish, clear technical drawings, an interest in access-led work, thought for sustainability and reuse, and public liability insurance. The role is open to makers from anywhere in England.
Phase 1 is three days in Derbyshire between 11 and 22 January 2027 plus half a day remotely, paid £1,000 all in (£700 fee plus £300 for travel, accommodation and subsidy). Phase 2 covers fabrication drawings and the build from June to mid-August 2027, paid at no less than the ITC/Equity weekly making rate plus materials. Send a short note, voice note or video with examples of work and January availability to the contact email by 10:00am on 2 November 2026.
