About

Artspace Aotearoa, the artist-founded public gallery on Karangahape Road in Auckland, is recruiting its 2027 curatorial intern. Funded by Creative New Zealand, the post runs from January to December 2027 and supports delivery of the gallery's exhibition programme and day-to-day operations, with an external mentor chosen around the intern's learning goals.

The intern helps plan and carry out exhibition installs, budgets for openings and events, runs the volunteer programme, manages the gallery on Saturdays, leads tours, cares for artworks and assists the Deputy Director with funding work. Artspace looks for emerging-level skills: broad knowledge of contemporary art, good communication, some administration, experience working with artists or technicians and a basic grasp of how exhibitions are installed.

The contract is fixed term, part time at 30 hours a week (Wednesday to Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-4pm) for 11 months, paid NZ$31.50 an hour. Send a CV and one-page cover letter (or an AV application of up to five minutes) by email by 5pm on Thursday 19 November 2026.
