About

Kingston School of Art is recruiting a Letterpress and Book Arts Technician to join its Printmaking, Letterpress and Book Arts Workshop team on a fixed-term basis. Working with other technicians and academic staff, the postholder gives technical support and guidance to students at different levels through inductions and one-to-one help, maintains a safe and well-organised workshop and upholds its health and safety policies. The role covers both letterpress and book arts, with the initial balance set by the appointee's experience.

The university wants someone with substantial practical experience in a letterpress and/or book arts workshop and strong knowledge of the relevant processes and equipment; applicants stronger in one area are welcome and will be trained in the other. Experience of facilitating teaching in an educational setting and knowledge of other printmaking processes (screenprinting, intaglio, relief, monoprint, risography) are desirable.

The post is fixed term for up to 12 months as maternity cover, part time at 0.6 FTE (22.2 hours a week), with a starting salary of £20,404.20 (60 per cent of £34,007). It is expected to start in late January or early February 2027 and interviews are expected on 11 November 2026. Staff are expected on campus for most of the working week. Apply via the Indeed listing's Apply Now link; informal enquiries to Kate Jenkins, Workshop Manager.
