About
Aperture and Paris Photo run the PhotoBook Awards each year to recognise the best photobooks published worldwide. There are three categories: First PhotoBook (USD 10,000 to the photographer or artist of the best debut), PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalog of the Year. A shortlist of 35 books is exhibited at Paris Photo at the Grand Palais and tours afterwards.
The 2026 call opened on 10 June 2026 and closed on 4 September 2026 at 5 p.m. EDT; books had to be physically received by Aperture in New York by the deadline. Eligible books were published between 6 September 2025 and 4 September 2026 (or printed by then with a publication date up to 31 December 2026). Digital-only books are ineligible.
Fees per project were USD 30 for First PhotoBook and USD 60 for the first book from a publisher in the other two categories (USD 15 and USD 40 early bird before 10 July). The shortlist was announced in October 2026 and winners follow on 13 November 2026. The 2027 call is expected to open in early summer 2027.
