About

The City of Pickering is inviting artists and artist teams to propose a permanent outdoor artwork for the future Dave Ryan Community Park at Mulberry Lane and Alexander Knox Road. Following the city's Art in Public Spaces Plan, it wants an integrated, functional piece next to the fieldhouse, combining art with a practical use such as seating, lighting, wayfinding, a gathering space or landscape features, on themes of community building and growth.

Under the city's policy an artist can include professional artists, designers, architects, landscape designers and collaborative teams. Applications from Indigenous people and equity-deserving communities are encouraged. Three shortlisted artists or teams will each receive C$1,500 including HST to develop concepts and present to the Public Art Jury on 31 March 2027.

The total budget is C$60,000 including HST, covering fees, revisions, renderings, materials, technical work and installation. Stage one is an online expression of interest form, due by 4pm ET on 6 November 2026.
