About

The Portage Ceramic Awards have run since 2001 and are presented by Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery. Entrants must be New Zealand residents (overseas-based residents may enter with a NZ return address). Work must be predominantly clay, original and made within the last two years; each entrant may submit up to two entries, and joint entries are allowed.

The 2026 round opened 17 April and closed at noon on 8 June 2026, with finalists announced 5 October and judged by Richard Fahey of Unitec. The entry fee was NZ$40 for one entry or NZ$60 for two (free for Te Uru members). The 2026 exhibition runs 4 December 2026 to 28 February 2027, with the awards night on 3 December 2026.

Prize amounts are not published on the gallery's event page. The 2027 call has not yet been announced.
