About
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is a long-running recognition programme for teenagers in the United States, offering more than twenty art and writing categories. Students enter through regional affiliates; regional Gold Key winners advance to national adjudication for Gold and Silver Medals, scholarships and special awards. Graduating seniors may also submit portfolios.
The 2027 Awards opened on 1 October 2026. Deadlines are set by region and run from 1 December 2026 to as late as 4–6 January 2027; art and writing deadlines within a region may differ. Entries cost $15 each and senior portfolios $40; fee waivers are available without proof of financial need.
Regional results are announced on 27 January 2027 and national results on 31 March 2027, with National Awards Week in New York City from 8 to 11 June 2027, including a ceremony at Carnegie Hall.
