Senior Conservator (Textiles), Maternity Cover at V&A

The V&A is recruiting a Senior Conservator to join its Textile Conservation team on a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. The post-holder carries out preventive and interventive conservation on textiles from the museum's collections, including assessment and technical examination, and advises on handling, storage and safe display.

The V&A asks for excellent practical knowledge of textiles and related materials, how they are made and how they degrade, a broad range of conservation techniques, sound knowledge of scientific analysis for technical examination, and good planning and prioritising skills. The work supports the museum's public programme and its collections care plan, across a range of object types.

The contract is full time at Cromwell Road, London, for up to 12 months from 4 January 2027, at £40,770–£54,360 a year.
