About
Corniche is Sharjah Art Foundation's annual comic anthology. For its eighth issue the foundation invited illustrators and comic artists based in the GCC, aged 18 or over, to pitch a six-page comic (three spreads) in English or Arabic. Applications required a portfolio, story synopsis, rough storyboard and a rough sketch of one page, submitted through the official form.
The pitch deadline was 30 June 2026 (11:59 pm UAE time), with acceptance notifications on 15 July and final artwork due 15 September 2026. Selected artists take part in a three-day creative exchange in Sharjah and are published in the anthology launched at the Focal Point art book fair in 2026.
Artists retain full copyright and grant only primary publishing rights to the foundation. No fee or payment is stated on the call page. The anthology is published annually, so a Corniche 9 call is expected in 2027.
