About
The Society of Scottish Artists (SSA) stages one of Scotland's largest artist-run contemporary exhibitions each year at the Royal Scottish Academy building in Edinburgh. General Submissions are open to artists worldwide in painting, printmaking, photography, textiles, drawing, sculpture and other media; installation, performance, proposals and moving image are handled through separate SSA open calls for the same exhibition.
For the 128th Annual Exhibition, submissions ran from 7 August to 12 noon on 7 October 2026 via the Zealous platform. Non-members may submit up to three works at £20 per submission; SSA members submit free (professional members up to four works). Pre-selection results are notified on 5-6 November 2026, with selected works delivered physically to the gallery. The exhibition runs 14 February to 10 March 2027. All selected works must be for sale, with 40% commission for non-members.
