About

SWELL is an open-air sculpture exhibition held each September along Currumbin Beach to Flat Rock, Tugun, on Queensland's Gold Coast. Artists from Australia and overseas may apply with completed works, works in progress or concepts in any sculptural medium or installation. Applications must include scaled concept drawings, support images, footing and lighting details and maintenance needs; incomplete submissions may be deemed non-conforming.

Selected artists receive installation support and an artist subsidy per artwork. The 2026 awards included the $15,000 SWELL Sculpture Neumann Family Award, a $5,000 Highly Commended Award, a $5,000 People's Choice Award and several smaller awards (environmental, young artist, emerging artist, peer, Indigenous art); the 2027 pool is described as over $37,000.

Entries for the 2027 festival close at midnight on 31 January 2027. The festival runs 10–19 September 2027.
