About

The Alice Prize has been run by the Alice Springs Art Foundation since 1970. Any Australian may enter original work completed within roughly the previous two years; there are no limits on medium, genre or theme beyond size and weight restrictions. Finalists are selected blind by an expert panel and the winning work is acquired for the Alice Prize collection, held in Central Australia.

The 2026 prize offered $30,000 (acquisitive) plus a $1,000 People's Choice award and Highly Commended awards. Entry was $60 per artwork, with up to two images per work; all works must be for sale (33% commission). Finalists pay transport and insurance to and from Araluen Arts Centre.

The 2026 round closed 4 February 2026 with the exhibition 28 March to 8 June 2026, judged by Dr Mary Knights. Past editions ran in 2022 and 2024, indicating a two-year cycle.
