About
The Visual Arts Bursary Award supports professional visual artists to develop their practice through time, research and new work. It is applied for individually through the Arts Council's online services portal and applicants must normally be resident in the Republic of Ireland.
In 2026 Round 1 closed on 12 February 2026 and Round 2 opened 19 May and closed 18 June 2026, with awards of up to €20,000. Artists cannot apply to a bursary round if they already applied to the previous round or the Agility Award in the same year.
The 2027 rounds had not been announced at the time of checking; past years have opened in January and May.
