About
The Bowness Photography Prize, established by the MAPh Foundation, is open to Australian artists working with photography. Entries are considered from still photo-based media including analogue and digital photography, produced within the last year.
Following a $1 million gift from the Bowness Family Foundation, the winner receives $50,000 and two honourable mentions receive $2,500 each; shortlisted artists are paid loan fees. Finalists may also be selected for the $10,000 Wai Tang Commissioning Award. The 2026 exhibition runs 12 September to 8 November 2026; the next call is published on the MAPh website.
