About
The Gottlieb Foundation's Individual Support Grant is an open-application programme for individual painters, sculptors and printmakers who have been working in a mature phase of their art for twenty years or more and who can demonstrate current financial need. Twenty grants of $25,000 are awarded each year; recipients have come from around the world.
Organisations, students, graphic artists and craft artists are not funded. Photography, film and video qualify only where they directly involve painting or sculpture. Exhibitions, installations and projects are not funded. Artists who have already received three Individual Support Grants are ineligible.
Applications for the 2027 cycle are accepted from 15 October 2026 and close on 15 January 2027 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time, via Submittable. The application includes a financial disclosure section with supporting documentation.
