About
Quercus Heritage, a cultural heritage consultancy, invites proposals from artists for the design, realisation and installation of up to four mosaics as the social value component of a new housing development in a village in Central Bedfordshire. Designs will reflect local heritage, including Roman roads and rural farmsteads uncovered in excavations on the site, and will be developed partly in consultation with local school children and the community through a professional workshop facilitator.
The artist's scope covers liaising with the facilitator, heritage consultants and archaeologists, producing initial and final layout options, leading community workshops to make segments of the mosaic, completing the mosaics in the studio, delivering them and liaising on installation. Consultation is expected to start in November 2026, design in December to January, and making in February to April, with installation later; timescales may change.
The listing shows a £10k–£15k (pro rata) band for this part-time, temporary contract. Proposals must use the tender form linked from the listing and include a portfolio link or samples, a CV and itemised costings, emailed to the contact given. Tenders received up to 12:00 noon GMT on Monday 2 November 2026 are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
