Assistant Professor in Sculpture (Studio Area) at York University

York University's Department of Visual Art and Art History, in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design, is hiring a practising artist whose main focus is sculpture for a tenure-track assistant professorship beginning 1 July 2027. The appointee will teach foundational techniques and experimental, multidisciplinary approaches, integrate digital technologies with contemporary practice, supervise graduate students and share departmental governance.

Candidates need a PhD or equivalent, such as an MFA with a substantial professional record, a coherent programme of research-creation in contemporary sculpture (for example digital processes, ceramic sculpture, foundry, public art or installation), evidence of exhibitions, commissions or awards, and at least two years of post-secondary teaching. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are given priority, though all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
