Digital Residency Commission (WE ARE HOPE) at No More Nowt

No More Nowt, the Creative People and Places programme in County Durham, is commissioning a 'socio-technical' digital residency around community-powered climate solutions. It wants digital artists, creative technologists, collectives or multidisciplinary creatives to work with communities on a hopeful, hands-on reimagining of the future rather than climate fatalism.

Proposals might involve public, participatory or open-source artworks, sculpture, offline physical media or browser-based work, ending in a launch event, installation or other artefact. The artist must work with at least two communities and deliver at least 24 days of engagement sessions, about one day a week, between December 2026 and August 2027. Artists at all career stages can apply.

The total budget is £20,000, covering fees at AUE rates plus travel, materials, preparation, VAT, access and event costs. No More Nowt provides marketing and producing support. The full brief is on its website.
