About

The Art Department at Emmanuel College in Boston runs a six-week summer residency for four artists, aiming to choose one in each of ceramics, photography, printmaking and social practice. The 2027 residency runs from 16 June to 28 July 2027, giving established and emerging artists uninterrupted time and space in the college's shared studios, which include ceramics, wood and print shops, a photo studio, darkroom and drawing studios.

Each artist receives a $1,500 stipend and a dormitory room, and international artists may claim up to $1,000 more for travel and visa costs. Residents meet students and staff occasionally, take part in a closing exhibition on campus and donate one work to the college. Artists pay for their own materials, food, shipping and local transport, and must be on site throughout.

Applicants must not be enrolled in an academic programme and need conversational English. Email a single PDF with CV, artist statement, 20 portfolio images with descriptions and a project proposal to the residency address by 11:59pm EST on 18 December 2026. No application fee is mentioned.
