About

Harbourfront Centre's Artist-in-Residence Program gives emerging craft artists a place in its glass, metal, textile, design and ceramic studios on the Toronto waterfront, with access to equipment, a public-facing studio and professional development. Contracts run one year from 1 September and are renewable for up to three years.

Applicants must hold a post-secondary degree, diploma or equivalent training, have graduated within the last five years and have an active emerging practice with a sound technical and conceptual foundation in one of the disciplines. Artists may apply up to three times. International applicants need their own work permit (the IEC Working Holiday route is not available to US citizens).

The intake for September 2027 opened in October 2026 and closes 7 December 2026 at 11:59 pm EST. Residents pay a monthly licence fee of CAD 110.70 and buy their own materials; no stipend or housing is provided. The Ceramic Studio is not taking applications this cycle.
