About

Haystack's Open Studio Residency gives around fifty artists two weeks of unstructured studio time in the school's clay, fibre, glass, graphics, metals and wood studios on the Maine coast. There is no charge for participation or room and board; residents cover travel and materials.

National and international artists across disciplines aged 21 or over may apply; students may apply if they are available for the full two weeks. Past participants may reapply but first-time applicants may be given preference. Applications are capped at the first 1,000 submissions.

The 2027 residency runs 23 May – 4 June 2027. Applications open 16 November 2026 and close 9 December 2026 at 11:59 pm ET; acceptances are sent by 5 March 2027. There is no application fee.
