Head of the Kunstsammlung Gera

The city of Gera in Thuringia is recruiting a head for the Kunstsammlung Gera, one of its four municipal museums. The collection and exhibition programme centre on Otto Dix and his circle, art from the GDR and contemporary art, shown at venues including the Otto-Dix-Haus.

The director develops the museum and collection strategy, plans and runs the museum's resources and budget, helps secure funding, plans and realises exhibitions, and leads the collection team and the museum technical team.

Applicants need a master's degree in art history (20th-century focus; a doctorate is welcome), several years in a museum, exhibition-making experience, museum-management knowledge, German at C1 or native level, a driving licence and readiness to live in or near Gera. The post is full time and permanent, paid at E 13 TVöD.
