About

Creative Art Works, a New York nonprofit running in-school and out-of-school arts programmes for under-resourced youth, is hiring an Integrated Arts Teaching Artist for in-person placements during the 2026-2027 academic year in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. Projects use drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, sculpture, assemblage, model-making and mixed media to deepen students' engagement with subjects such as science or social studies.

The teaching artist develops multi-week projects with school partners and CAW programme staff, runs critique and iteration, manages the classroom, keeps attendance, lesson plans and documentation, and prepares students' work for exhibitions and showcases.

Applicants need a BA or BFA in art, design, digital arts or arts education (or equivalent), at least three years of experience teaching youth in schools or community settings, and must clear New York City's PETS background check. A master's degree, Spanish and New York State teacher certification are pluses.

Pay is $45 to $53 an hour and covers teaching, prep, planning and professional development. Email a resume, cover letter, three references, sample lesson or student work and a digital portfolio to [email protected] with the subject line "[Your Name]: Integrated Arts Teaching Artist (26-27)".
