About
The City of Peterborough is seeking professional artists and collectives to design, fabricate and install a permanent illuminated, interactive sculpture with English and French interpretive panels in James Stevenson Park. Funded through the federal Building Communities through Arts and Heritage legacy programme, it marks 150 years since the city's first recorded baseball game.
The work must be durable for year-round outdoor conditions, resistant to UV and graffiti, low maintenance, safe and accessible, and lit by solar or battery power. The call is open to professional artists and collectives eligible to work in Canada with experience of durable, site-responsive public art; outdoor sculpture, lighting or interactive experience is relevant.
Stage one asks only for qualifications and past work. Shortlisted artists, notified on 3 December 2026, receive a C$1,500 plus HST honorarium to develop a proposal. The total project budget is C$45,000, covering all fees, fabrication, panels, installation, insurance and travel. Stage one closes at 4pm ET on Friday 13 November 2026.
