About
Kala's annual Fellowship Program is open to international, national and local artists whose work spans multiple media, with a focus on printmaking, photography, digital and book arts. Fellows receive a $3,000 cash award, 24-hour access to Kala's facilities for one to nine months between July 2027 and June 2028, a Kala class or workshop and inclusion in the annual Fellowship exhibition in the Kala Gallery.
Artists from outside the nine Bay Area counties receive one month of housing; a $200 deposit is required to reserve it and is credited back.
The open call for the 2027–28 cycle opens in December 2026 and closes 1 March 2027, with notification expected in May 2027.
