Lead Preparator at Parrish Art Museum

The Parrish Art Museum is hiring a Lead Preparator to plan and carry out museum-standard art handling and preparation for collection works, loans and exhibitions. Duties include hinging, archival matting, framing and frame fabrication, mount-making, installing signage, maintaining works on view and in storage, and assisting the Registrar with condition reports and loan documentation.

The Lead Preparator organises and executes exhibition installations indoors and outdoors, supervises part-time preparators and contracted crews, liaises with vendors, and uses equipment including scissor lifts, table saws and routers.

Candidates need at least five years of museum art handling and exhibition installation experience, including outdoor sculpture, archival matting and framing, supervising crews, and familiarity with TMS or another collection database. The schedule is 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with occasional extra or weekend hours; the role can lift up to 50 pounds.
