About

The City of Summerside is inviting proposals for a public artwork that marks the Royal Canadian Legion's 100th anniversary and honours the service and sacrifice of Canada's military personnel. The call is open to artists in any medium, for free-standing two- or three-dimensional work suited to a downtown site; Water Street and Memorial Square are suggested locations.

Proposals should explain how the work relates to Summerside and the centenary theme, why the chosen site matters, and how accessibility, durability, maintenance and installation will be handled. Applicants send the signed city application form with a CV and biography, examples of past work, a proposal of up to 750 words, site research and a detailed budget.

The project budget is C$13,000 plus applicable taxes and must cover materials, artist fees, any engineering or fabrication and installation. Submissions are reviewed by the city's Public Art Working Group and selection panel. The deadline is 4pm Atlantic time on Monday 30 November 2026.
