Scenic Fabricator & Painter at Life in Bloom

Life in Bloom designs and produces weddings, galas and other high-end events, and is hiring a scenic painter and light carpenter for its production team. The role builds, paints and finishes custom backdrops, walls, bars, arches and installations from the design team's specs, using faux finishes, textures, murals and ageing, and helps install them at venues.

The ad asks for three to five years of professional painting and light carpentry experience, with theatre, scenic or set-building experience strongly preferred, the ability to work from drawings and references, and the ability to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders. A driver's licence is required for occasional cargo van driving.

Pay is $28 to $35 an hour, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5. The busy season (April to November) is 40 hours a week with some weekends; the off season (December to March) is around 30 hours a week and not guaranteed. Paid time off is offered. To apply, email a résumé and a portfolio of past work to [email protected] with a few sentences about a scenic or build project you are proud of.
