About
The Sir John Hurt Art Prize, named for the actor who lived in North Norfolk, is run by Holt Art Projects (the renamed Holt Festival). It is open to artists worldwide at all career stages for painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed-media wall-based work up to 1.25m in height or width.
One artist chosen from the shortlist by the judges receives £2,000; in 2026 the judges were Lady Anwen Hurt, Katherine Jones RA and David Cass. Entry fees were £15 for one work, £28 for two and £38 for three.
The 2026 deadline was 14 June; the shortlist was announced 22 June and the exhibition ran in Holt and Glandford until 1 August 2026. The organiser is relaunching as Holt Art Projects with a new website and says the prizes will continue.
