About

The Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco is hiring teaching artists for MoAD in the Classroom, its school outreach programme for 3rd and 4th grade students at Title I schools across the Bay Area. Teaching artists lead lessons from the museum's curriculum in partner classrooms and in MoAD's galleries and art-making spaces, covering visual arts literacy, gallery tours and studio projects in collage, painting, scratchboard and drawing.

The ad asks for a BA or BFA in studio art, museum education, art history, African Diaspora studies, education or a related field (three years of relevant experience can substitute), lived experience or cultural competency with the African Diaspora, at least two years in a K-12 or comparable museum setting, and experience designing visual arts lessons. A car or other reliable transport to schools is required. Spanish is a plus.

The post is part time and as needed, about 16 hours a week on school days, at $28 to $30 an hour including paid planning and monthly training, with a travel stipend of up to $1,500 a semester. Continued employment depends on grant funding. To apply, email a cover letter and résumé to [email protected] with the subject "MoAD Teaching Artist"; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
