About

Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Humanities and Arts Department is hiring a full-time, non-tenure-track Teaching Professor of Studio Arts at assistant or associate rank, starting August 2027. The post teaches eight courses a year, two per seven-week term, from introductory courses such as Essentials of Art and Topics in Studio Art to advanced classes in figurative studies and thematic inquiry. It also involves curriculum development, advising student projects, building links with local art organisations and helping run new studio facilities.

Candidates need a PhD or MFA in studio arts or a closely related field, three years of university-level teaching and advising, a record of exhibitions or projects, and the ability to teach a variety of studio media.

Pay is $85,000 to $88,000 a year depending on experience. Apply through the WPI application link with a cover letter on your practice as an artist, scholar and teacher, a CV with three references, a teaching philosophy statement, and two PDF portfolios of 15 to 20 images each, one of your own work and one of student work. Review began on 19 October and continues until the post is filled.
