About

Insomniac Games is looking for a VFX Artist on a 12-month contract to create effects for gameplay, environments and cinematics. The artist designs and implements real-time particle effects from static and animated 2D/3D elements, places effects throughout the game, and creates effect textures and node-based shaders.

Insomniac asks for proficiency in Maya (joints, keyframing, rigid-body simulation, hard-surface modelling and UVs), Photoshop for texture painting, and node-based shader networks, with at least intermediate skill in DCC tools such as Maya or Houdini.

The role is flexible and can be remote within the United States, with pay varying by location; for someone based in Seattle the listed base rate is US$75–85 an hour. It is a temporary engagement through Sony's staffing partner Yoh Enterprise Solutions.
