About

Watershed hosts six two-week themed sessions each summer (June to August) for any artist comfortable working independently in a clay studio. No instruction is given; residents share a studio, housing and meals on Watershed's campus in Newcastle, Maine.

The 2027 residency fee is $1,825 (invited artists $1,375) plus room and board from $825 to $1,750 and kiln and materials charges. Full scholarships covering residency and housing are open to all applicants, with targeted full scholarships for artists of colour, international artists, emerging artists and others; partial scholarships cover up to two-thirds of fees and a work-exchange gives a $385 discount.

Applications for the following summer open in late fall or January and close 1 February; placements and scholarships are finalised in mid-March. The application fee is $25.
