About

Wildlife Artist of the Year is organised by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, a UK conservation charity. The 2026 edition selected 164 finalist artworks from almost 1,500 entries from 60 countries, across categories including Abstract World, Animal Behaviour, Earth's Wild Beauty, Environmental Artivism, Facing Extinction, Into the Blue, Wings and Youth Exclusive, with additional awards such as the Hazel Soan Watercolour Award and a People's Choice.

It is open internationally to amateur and professional artists aged 15 or over at the closing date; artists aged 15 to 19 enter the Youth Exclusive category. In 2026 the fee was £30 per artwork for the first two entries and £20 thereafter (£20 for youth entries), and entries closed on 24 March 2026.

Finalists are shown at the Mall Galleries, London. The 2027 entry dates and prizes had not been published at the time of checking.
